What Does “Head Spa Certified” Really Mean?

It’s your guarantee that the equipment and techniques meet the quality standards required for you to call your treatment a genuine Head Spa treatment. When you have the right gear – Yume washing unit, Headbath, and Spa Mist – and you get the certification, you show that you are fully committed to professional and thorough hair and scalp care. It’s not something that just looks like or resembles it; it’s the real deal.

I can’t stress enough how important it is to choose the authentic Head Spa concept if you want to offer your clients a great experience – and secure the official certification. You may have seen names like “Hair Spa” or something similar, but the truth is that Head Spa is the only one you can actually get certified in. And that makes a huge difference for both you and your clients.

Takara Belmont’s Head Spa certification requires Spa Mist, Yume washing unit, and Headbath. The certification takes place in your salon or with us (Just Add People) and usually takes a couple of hours.

Look for "Head Spa Certified" Labels

To make it easy for you, we have marked all our Head Spa furniture with a label, so you are always sure to buy an original. It’s a big investment whether you buy the original or a copy, so you might as well buy the original from the start, right? Look for labels like these:

Why Is It So Important to Buy Original?

  1. You can only get certified with original equipment: If you buy equipment that only looks like it but isn’t genuine Head Spa, you won’t get certified.
  2. Your salon stands out: A certificate signals that you offer a unique, luxurious treatment that a competitor with a “Hair Spa” sign may not be able to match.
  3. Better durability and support: Original Head Spa equipment from, for example, Takara Belmont is designed to last – and you get support from people who truly know the product down to the smallest detail.

What Happens If You Don’t Choose the Genuine Article?

Uneven or Too Harsh Steam

Spa Mist is designed to provide a microscopic mist so that hair and scalp are gently cared for. With a cheap copy, you risk either too harsh steam and/or heat exposure that can damage both hair and scalp.

Diluted Color and Treatments

Precisely controlled temperatures and steam levels in Spa Mist mean your colors and treatments won’t be diluted. If you use a copy, you may end up with unpredictable steam levels, causing your color or treatment to be negatively affected instead of penetrating the hair strands effectively.

Lack of Safety and Durability

Original Head Spa equipment is made for professional, daily salon use and meets strict quality standards. Copies may be made from inferior materials that neither last long nor protect against overheating. Such failures can cost you money, time – and in the worst case, the customer experience. We had a customer here the other day who asked for a spare part for a model that was 8 years old. I think it took 3 days before she had the spare part she needed to replace. Takara Belmont just has it under control.

No Head Spa Certification

Perhaps the biggest disadvantage: If you buy a copy, you do not meet the requirements Takara Belmont sets to issue an official certification. You can offer a “similar” treatment, but you cannot market it as a genuine Head Spa. This also means your clients won’t get the same quality and confidence in the product’s effect. Takara Belmont’s Head Spa certification requires Spa Mist, Yume washing unit, and Headbath. The certification takes place in your salon or with us (Just Add People) and usually takes a couple of hours.

The Man Behind Spa Mist – and Why He Isn’t Afraid of Copies

I’ve been lucky enough to speak with the actual developer of Spa Mist, and he told me he never doubted that imitations would appear once the technology became a hit. But he wasn’t worried either. Why? When you copy a piece of equipment, you only imitate the appearance – not the unique features and expertise that went into making it. Spa Mist was created with in-depth knowledge of hair, scalp, and the chemical processes in care products. That background can’t just be copied by making a similar look or shape. That’s why copies can’t compete with the original, and you can feel the difference immediately – both in quality and in the results of your treatments.

Yume Washing Unit, Headbath, and Spa Mist – What Are They?

Yume Washing Unit

A specially designed washing unit where the client can lie almost completely down – or at least nearly. It’s no coincidence that you don’t lie fully flat. The purpose is to reduce stress and headaches, so if you were laid completely flat, blood would rush to your head. So you don’t lie fully down, but almost. The chair’s shelves are also shaped to fit a body, so you don’t lie completely flat. It’s never been super comfortable to lie on a flat treatment table, right? Stop by and try it – I promise it’s worth the trip.

Headbath

Headbath is a specially designed accessory available only for Yume washing units. There are also many imitations here, but the problem is the same: they look alike but can’t do the same. The unique thing about Headbath is that the water doesn’t just run out and down onto your clients’ heads. The water is gently guided out of the curved drain to hit the three points on your forehead where all your nerves gather. If you’re quick, you might think: “What about the two points in the neck?” Don’t worry: that’s why Headbath comes with a bowl for the neck, so the last two nerve clusters are gently loosened in warm water while you listen to the soothing sounds of flowing water. Need I say more? You won’t get that experience anywhere else.

Spa Mist

An advanced steam machine that atomizes water or care products into microscopic droplets so hair and scalp can really absorb nutrients. The unique thing is that it’s actually not steam but an ultra-fine mist, giving you all the benefits you know from traditional steam machines but without the risk of damaging the client’s hair or scalp. You also won’t risk diluting the client’s treatment or color. That’s definitely something to keep in mind, if you ask me.

In Short

If you want to offer a well-thought-out, luxurious treatment, go for the original Head Spa concept. Look for “Head Spa Certified” so you can proudly say you offer the real Head Spa experience – and that you yourself are properly equipped with an official certification. Explore the furniture here.
